Permits, violations & licenses

Pay a code violation notice (CVN)

Before you begin

Have your code violation notice (CVN) ticket number ready.

Service overview

Code violation notices include:

  • Property and sidewalk maintenance fines.
  • Non-criminal personal misconduct fines.
  • Tobacco violations.

You can pay a ticket for a code violation in four ways:

  • By phone.
  • Online.
  • By mail.
  • In person.

If payment is not received within 10 calendar days of when it was issued, you will be subject to more penalties.

Failure to pay or contest a code violation may result in the filing of a Code Enforcement Complaint in Municipal Court. The Court can impose up to a maximum fine of $300 plus court costs.

Each day a code violation continues will amount to a separate offense for which a separate penalty may be imposed.

How

By phone

To pay a ticket by phone, call the Code Unit at (215) 567-2605.

Online

You may pay online through the Office of Administrative Review portal. Enter your CVN ticket number on the Philadelphia SWEEP page. There is a $2.00 processing fee for web payments.

By mail

Residents can pay tickets by mailing a check or money order payable to the City of Philadelphia to:
City of Philadelphia
P.O. Box 56318

  • The City of Philadelphia or its agent may re-present your check electronically to your depository institution for payment.
