The Department of Public Health conducts annual sanitation and safety inspections of child care facilities. Inspections address:
- Food handling practices.
- Water supply.
- Waste disposal.
- Presence of insects, rodents, or other vermin.
- Ventilation.
- Lighting.
- Sanitation and condition of client care areas and equipment.
- Condition of toilet facilities.
- Presence, handling, and disposal of any hazardous materials.

Note: After your child care facility is inspected and is found to be compliance with the regulations, the Department of Public Health will issue a License Eligibility Report (LER). You may need to submit a plan review for a stationary food business or an application for change of ownership of a stationary food business to begin this process.
