Shared Safety Philadelphia

Structure

Coordinating Council

The Coordinating Council sets policy and creates a forum for ongoing discussion. Members include public sector and nonprofit leadership, representatives from member organizations, and topical experts. The council is co-chaired by leaders from:

  • Office of Domestic Violence Strategies
  • WOAR – Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence
  • Philadelphia Legal Assistance

Working groups

Short-term projects are completed by working groups.

Current working group projects include:

  • Better Serving Religious Survivors. This project is making a calendar and guide on how to serve religious survivors of relational violence during religious observances.
  • Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Gun Violence Video. This project is creating a video for health care professionals about the intersection of IPV and gun violence.
  • LGBTQ+ Working Group. This project aims to recruit LGBTQ+ focused organizations into Shared Safety. It will also help onboard and integrate them into the Coordinating Council.
  • Philadelphia Region Medical Conference. This working group is planning a one-day, in-person conference for health care professionals. It will cover topics about caring for patients who are survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
  • Trauma-Informed Discharge Document. This working group is creating a template discharge document for healthcare settings.

Email SharedSafety@phila.gov if you are interested in supporting or learning more about any of the working groups. Or sign up for the Shared Safety newsletter to receive updates.
