Community Resource Corps

Requirements and benefits

Before applying, review the requirements for joining the Community Resource Corps and learn about the benefits you’ll receive.

Requirements

As an AmeriCorps member, you must:

  • Be 17 (with parental consent) or older.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident alien.
  • Have or be working toward a high school degree or equivalency.
  • Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or be eligible for a medical or religious exemption for the COVID-19 vaccine before the start of service.
  • Give consent to and clear a National Service Criminal History Check. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, contact us at CRC@phila.gov.

We welcome members with diverse experiences and identities. Members of the CRC are often:

  • Trusted community leaders that are involved in their neighborhoods.
  • Activists and organizers in their own communities.
  • People who are interested in making a difference in our city.

Benefits

As an AmeriCorps member, you’ll receive:

  • A living stipend.
  • Health care support.
  • Transportation support.
  • Monthly professional development trainings and AmeriCorps uniforms.
  • An education award of $5,176.50 for a 10-month term and $2,817.14 for a 6-month term upon completion.
  • Five points on the City of Philadelphia’s civil service exam upon completion.
