Climate Services and Resilience Planning

Coordinating a citywide process to update our climate resilience plan using science, data, and inclusive community engagement.

About

The Office of Sustainability's Climate Resilience Division addresses Philadelphia’s most urgent climate issues. We're taking on a citywide initiative to update the City's Climate Resilience Plan. As part of our process, we'll follow equitable practices to engage residents in our decision making.

The planning process will include updating:

  • Climate projections for the city. Then, we'll provide guidance on how to apply them to programs, policies, and other solutions.
  • Assessments about the city's vulnerability to climate change.
  • Map-based data and tools.

To update the plan, we need to engage the communities most affected by climate change. That's why our citywide engagement strategy will focus on residents and local leaders. These groups will guide the plan and highlight climate justice issues impacting their communities:

  • A community-led steering committee.
  • A climate ambassador program.

Industry leaders, advocacy groups, and City departments will also play key roles in updating the plan.
