8:20 AM Mayor Kenney to Speak at First Day of School Bell Ringing Ceremony
The Mayor, Superintendent Dr. William Hite, Councilwoman Cindy Bass, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and PFT President Jerry Jordan will officially open the school year at Pennell Elementary and tour a 2^nd grade reading classroom.
Where: Pennell Elementary, 1800 Nedro Ave., Philadelphia, PA.

12:00 PM Mayor Kenney to Participate in Lunch Visit at George Washington High School
The Mayor and Superintendent Dr. William Hite will participate in a tour led by DECA Students, George Washington’s award winning business program. The tour’s highlights will include a mural showcasing the school’s diversity and a sit-down lunch in the cafeteria. George Washington is one of the new community schools in the 2017-2018 school year. Community schools are made possible by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax.
