Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management created a Special Events Safety Guide to help those attending gatherings in the city which see substantial crowds.
Philadelphia hosts large events that draw hundreds of thousands of people and are an annual attraction such as: July 4th Welcome America Festival, New Year’s Eve fireworks, the Philadelphia Marathon and Broad Street Run, Army-Navy games and the Made in America Festival.
The city has also been chosen for special events like the World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis’ visit this September.
The Office of Emergency Management wants visitors to be informed, prepared, and safe so they can enjoy the event.
The eight-page Special Events Safety Guide helps people prepare whether it is tips on keeping your kids safe in crowds, personal safety, staying healthy, or weather and situational awareness. The guide also shows a new OEM feature so visitors can be aware of where they are in a crowd: location markers along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The guide is available on OEM’s homepage under “Ready, or Not?”.
