Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox)

Providing the latest updates on mpox, including cases, vaccines, and prevention strategies.

About

Mpox is a disease caused by the Monkeypox virus. People with mpox often get a rash and other symptoms including fevers.

Mpox spreads through close skin-to-skin contact. Anyone who is exposed to mpox can get it, but some groups of Philadelphians are more likely to be exposed. In the United States, gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men have the highest risk of getting mpox.

If you believe you've been exposed, or are at risk of exposure, call (215) 685-5488 to ask about vaccines.
