Fairhill Neighborhood Slow Zone project materials

The Neighborhood Slow Zone Program was announced in 2018. The program works with communities to co-design the traffic calming solutions to address the needs of their neighborhood.

Slow Zones are groups of residential streets with a 20 MPH speed limit and traffic calming improvements. City staff, planners, and engineers work with residents through public Residents also gain a better understanding of engineering decisions and the changes to their streets.

The Fairhill Neighborhood Slow Zone consists of the area between 5th Street (west), Glenwood Avenue (north), 2nd Street (east), and Allegheny Avenue (south).

Phase 2 of the Fairhill Neighborhood Slow Zone made permanent the temporary traffic calming features implemented in Phase 1. The project added concrete to painted curb extensions, added asphalt speed cushions, and created new gateway treatments. These improvements make the Fairhill neighborhood safer by further lowering driver speeds, reducing illegal parking, and addressing reckless driving.
