The 7th and 8th Street Better Bus Stop Project will improve the boarding process and address issues leading to delays on SEPTA Route 47, one of the highest ridership bus routes in Philadelphia. The boarding process was identified as a key cause of delay, as buses often cannot reach the curb, forcing riders to board from the roadway. Improving bus stops will enhance traffic safety by increasing visibility at key intersections and improve boarding and alighting, as well as mitigating the delay at intersections.

Phase 1 of the project will focus on 7th and 8th Streets corridor from South Street to Washington Avenue.
