Park Friends groups

Park Friends groups are community-led organizations that partner with Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Park Conservancy (FPC) to make local parks stronger. Together, we work to create welcoming community spaces and foster positive experiences with nature.

Activities

Typical Friends group activities include:

  • Park cleanup and beautification days.
  • Fundraising events.
  • Organizing recreational and educational programs.
  • Advocating for park improvements.
  • Publicizing important issues.
  • Resource management.

There are more than 100 active Friends groups in Philadelphia ranging from large 501(c)(3) organizations with several hundred members to small community groups of a few dedicated neighbors.

Whether you have a little or a lot of time to give, Parks & Rec appreciates your help! We do all we can to provide services, resources, and training for Friends groups members.
