This is routine manual and limited recreation work.

Employees in this class are responsible for assisting sub-professional and professional recreation personnel in conducting activities at a recreation facility. Emphasis is on duties which will facilitate the work of higher level personnel, such as dispensing equipment and supplies or supervising free play, but employees in this class may occasionally assist in conducting organized activities. All work is performed in accordance with specific instructions, and employees are subject to frequent supervision from a professional recreation worker.

• Prepares and dispenses recreation equipment and supplies; participates in making minor repairs to equipment and in marking courts, diamonds, and fields.
• Supervises free play and use of swings, slides, sand boxes, and wading pools.
• Assists in conducting organized recreation activities and in officiating sports and games.
• Receives phone calls and gives information concerning program and schedule at the recreation area; maintains records of competitive athletic activities.
• Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Education equivalent to completion of three years of high school.
