FREE LIBRARY OPERATIONS DIRECTOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is managerial level library work directing all activities for one of the two library services functional areas of the Free Library. Employees direct either all public services aspects of the library system, including the operation of the central library, all branch and regional libraries, and specialized libraries and collections; or all technical and administrative support services for the library system. Work includes responsibility for formulating division policies, developing appropriate division goals, directing the introduction of new library services, and eliminating outdated programs. Establishing cooperative working relationships with associates, civic groups, and the general public is of major significance to the work. These positions report to the Associate Director of the Free Library.
