This is supervisory work directing the activities of a group of field employees engaged in investigating voters' registrations and securing and inspecting polling sites. Employees conduct investigations involving ethics violations and the more complex and sensitive cases. Contact with the general public is a significant aspect of the work. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior. Employees in this class interpret laws, codes and regulations as they apply to the conduct of elections.
Assigns work to a group of field personnel engaged in investigating voters' registrations and securing and inspecting polling sites; reviews, critiques and corrects work in progress and at completion in order to maintain quality and efficiency; trains new employees in inspection and investigative methods and techniques.
Explains various methods and techniques to be used in the more difficult cases.
Performs investigations of the more complex and sensitive cases including those generated by mail registration; testifies at hearings concerning findings of investigations.
Investigates complaints of ethics violations.
Interviews persons subpoenaed before authorized voters' registration agency in order to obtain evidence or resolve cases before formal hearings.
Trains election officials in election procedures.
Answers Election Day questions and complaints received from polling sites and individuals.
Supervises a group of field employees engaged in the following activities:
Prepares and maintains records and reports.
Performs related work as required.
Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.
ANDTwo years of experience in field investigation and inspection work involving a substantial degree of public contact, one year of which has involved investigating voter registration eligibility and inspecting polling sites.
ORAny equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to meet approved minimum physical and medical standards.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATESPossession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment as an Election Field Investigator 2 if required by work assignment.
