SECURITY OFFICER III


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is supervisory security and investigatory work directing an around-the-clock security program for a municipal facility or installation. An employee in this class supervises through subordinate supervisors a staff of security officers responsible for enforcing the security and conduct, rules and regulations for a municipal facility or installation to prevent disruptive and illegal actions, theft and vandalism, initiates and performs investigations of all reported incidents; and implements the in-service training program in security techniques. Directing the activities of security officers, and contact with law enforcement officials, public officials and general public are major aspects of the work. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.
