POLICE IDENTIFICATION SERVICES MANAGER


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is administrative technical support work at the second supervisory level, managing a Police Identification Services Operation. The employee in this class directs, through subordinate Photographic and Fingerprint Technicians Supervisors, identification technicians engaged in either the identification, photographing, developing and printing still photographs of prisoners, new sworn officers, injured police and civilians and pertinent case evidence; or engaged in latent print development, rolling, classifying, and identifying fingerprint impressions of prisoners, suspects, Police Department and other City employees and selected civilians. Work also includes directing, through Clerical Supervisors, clerical employees engaged in creating and maintaining computerized criminal history records. Establishing and maintaining policies, processes, and procedures to insure compliance with overall departmental policies and legal mandates are significant aspects of the work. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level police official.

ALLOCATING FACTORS:

  1. The position must be responsible for directing, through subordinate Photographic and Fingerprint Technician Supervisors, technicians engaged in latent print development and identification and photographing.

  2. The position must be responsible for directing, through subordinate Clerical Supervisors , clerical employees engaged in creating and maintaining computerized criminal history records.

  3. Only one position will be allocated to this class.
