SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAM SUPERVISOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is program analysis work at the first supervisory level planning and evaluating the programs and systems controls for governmental and private agencies that provide a variety of social services for the City. An employee in this class plans, directs, reviews, and evaluates the work of a staff engaged in the planning, examination, and review of social service program proposals, the evaluation of programmatic and operational activities of provider agencies, the monitoring of contract compliance, and developing methodologies or collection of relevant information. The employee may, alternatively, supervise a small staff of technical employees engaged in studying and evaluating the services provided by human services personnel on a unit basis and monitoring the compliance of the agency's staff with state regulations and mandates. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with officials or provider agencies and supervising lower level social service analysts are of major importance in the work. An employee in this class reports to an administrative or technical superior.
