CHIEF SURVEYOR


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is surveying work at the administrative level directing the activities of a number of survey parties giving lines and grades in connection with water construction projects, and drafting techniques and technicians engaged in preparing construction estimates and performing a variety of drafting and computational assignments. Planning work assignments with respect to workforce needs and conferring with contractors, engineers and others to interpret and explain applicable surveying and regulating codes and costs is a significant aspect of the work. The employee in this class provides interpretive and advisory services to associates, engineers and contractors with regard to program development and the solution of surveying problems. Work is performed under the direction of an engineering superior.
