- Power distribution system, transit and rail power equipment and system, the electrical aspects of lighting, heating
and ventilating, and other electrical phases, especially power phases, of public works construction projects.
- Instrumentation and telemetry systems, emergency power supplies, digital-coded data links; solid state alarm
systems, control systems for electrical and mechanical systems and equipment, video control and communication systems,
application of computer and solid state systems, electronic signals, automatic fare collection system and other electronic
transit and related systems.
- Performs related work as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- principles and practices of electrical and/or electronic engineering as applied to the design installation, operation
and testing of electrical equipment, in the area of specialization.
- engineering mathematics and mathematical tables used in electrical engineering, in the area of specialization.
- modern construction methods and procedures as applied to the electrical phases of construction projects.
- the principles, practices, techniques and instruments used in drafting.
ABILITY TO:
- make engineering surveys and secure complete and accurate data required in design work.
- learn and apply regulations pertaining to electrical and/or electronic systems and equipment.
- prepare and interpret plans, specifications, designs, and estimates for various components of major electrical
equipment and systems, in the area of specialization.
- make efficiency, acceptance, and other tests of electrical equipment, in the area of specialization.
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors and the general public,.
- prepare concise and comprehensive records and technical progress and research project reports.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests. Applications submitted by candidates for this class will be reviewed based on training and experience requirements as approved on 5/83.)
- Completion of a bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in electrical engineering.
- One year of electrical engineering experience.
Or any equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience that has included the completion of a
bachelor's degree program in an acceptable area of engineering as an educational minimum.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
