AIRPORT COMPUTING AND SECURITY SYSTEMS MANAGER


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is airport management work directing a mixed vendor, multi-network computing and telecommunications program and a comprehensive safety and security program for a large hub international airport. In the computing responsibility the employee in this class directs the activities of a group of telecommunications and computing specialists engaged in maintaining and providing telecommunications, LAN and WAN systems, and applications programming services in support of the airports' security access, billing, engineering, GIS and CADD systems, emergency services and message paging computing programs. In the safety and security responsibility an employee in this class directs all safety and security efforts to ensure the airport meets Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and requirements. The employee serves as a liaison between the airport and the FAA and is responsible for cooperative security and safety efforts among the airport staff. Work includes planning, developing and implementing computing and safety and security operations policies, procedures and guidelines and formulating systems enhancement strategies to maintain an efficient level of operation and services to the Airports and its tenants. Insuring computing systems integrity and security, coordinating the activities of airport management, emergency, and tenant personnel and maintaining extensive contact with federal, state, and local government officials to ensure compliance of FAA security regulations with airport operations are significant aspects of the work. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Aviation.
