General Definition
- This is management work directing, through subordinate supervisors, a large and diversified maintenance program consisting of facilities and technical systems maintenance services for the City's Dual-Airport system. The employee in this class directs facilities maintenance activities including building maintenance, custodial services, and pavements and grounds maintenance and assumes overall responsibility for directing technical trades services including electrical, electronic, and HVAC/Utility maintenance activities and the operation and maintenance of the Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS). Work also includes managing the construction of maintenance repair projects, maintenance contracts management, computerized work order and reporting system, and serving in special task force functions requiring multi-disciplinary participation. This class is differentiated from other classes by the responsibility for several, diversified maintenance services at Philadelphia International Airport and Philadelphia Northeast Airport. Communication and coordination with other airport administrators, airline officials and the public is of major significance to the work. Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance.

- The position must direct, through subordinate supervisors, both facilities maintenance services which include building maintenance, custodial and pavement and grounds maintenance; and technical systems maintenance services which include electrical, electronic, HVAC/Utility activities and the operation and maintenance of the Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) for the City's municipal airport complex.
- Must be able to pass and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and AOA (Airfield Operations Area) clearance.
