HUMAN RESOURCES INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGER


GENERAL DEFINITION

This is managerial level information technology work directing citywide computerized human resource information systems in the City's central human resources agency and directing the provision of all internal information technology services for that agency. The employee in this class plans, implements, maintains and updates software and hardware for human resource information systems run in a network and mainframe environment. Work includes supervision of a technical staff engaged in operating and maintaining a local area network, providing desktop support to department users, providing information technology services through an internet system, managing and administrating the Personnel Department's WEB site, maintaining electronic data files, maintaining and managing the city-wide Workforce Request System (WRS) and producing management reports for in-house and operating department users. Determining the most efficient data base placement for increasing numbers of personnel data sets, maintaining the security and confidentiality of sensitive personnel information and information relating to collective bargaining and serving as the department's chief computing resource are significant aspects of the work. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.
