GENERAL DEFINITION
This is supervisory and administrative systems development work directing and coordinating the development, design, programming, testing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining of computer management information systems or sub-systems for user agencies. Employees in this class confer with user management, technical personnel, and officials of other data processing organizations and are responsible for planning the availability of sufficient resources of adequate quality to meet requirements for systems development projects and schedules while monitoring projects and resources expenditures. Supervising through subordinates the work of systems analysts and programmers and reviewing systems development documentation for completeness, quality, and adherence to standards are of major significance to the work.
Work is performed under the general direction of a project manager or other technical superior. Assignments require the use of analytical thinking and are carried out in accordance with departmental and functional precedents, practices, and policies. An employee in this class participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of City-wide data processing systems.
