VOTER REGISTRATION RECORDS SUPERVISOR
GENERAL DEFINITION
This is second level supervisory work directing the processing and maintenance of voter registration affidavit files. The employee in this class, through subordinate clerical supervisors, directs the work activities of a large number of clerical and temporary election workers engaged in processing and maintaining voter registration affidavit files. Work includes planning, assigning and reviewing the work of subordinate staff. The employee in this class ensures timely processing of voter registration affidavit files, and studies, evaluates and recommends changes in procedures to effect more expeditious processing of the work. Conducting training for subordinate staff and temporary election workers is a significant aspect of the work. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.
ALLOCATING FACTORS:

- This is a one-position class in the City Commissioners' Office.
- The position must, through subordinate clerical supervisors, direct the work activities of a large number of clerical and temporary election workers engaged in processing and maintaining voter registration affidavit files.
- The position must ensure timely processing of voter registration affidavit files, recommend changes to improve workflow and conduct training for subordinate staff and temporary workers.
TYPICAL EXAMPLES OF WORK (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
- Plans, assigns and reviews the work of a large staff of clerical employees engaged in processing and correcting voter registration affidavits and maintaining affidavit files.
- Studies, evaluates and recommends changes in procedures to effect more expeditious processing of work; supervises the implementation of new procedures; makes further modifications as required.
- Trains new employees in all operations of the unit; interprets standard work procedures and departmental regulations; conducts continuous training of a temporary clerical staff characterized by a high rate of turnover; conducts periodic training sessions for all employees in the unit to apprise them of new departmental procedures and policies.
- Reviews correspondence and composes replies to questions about registration procedures; researches and replies to registration problems.
- Screens affidavits for errors; composes requests to elicit missing data or clarify available data; directs the correction of affidavit discrepancies.
- Reviews court orders issued as a result of missing affidavits; directs the replacement of the affidavits involved.
- Checks signatures on affidavits and petitions submitted by candidates seeking political office; testifies in court about matters pertaining to registration records.
- Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
(The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests. Applications submitted by candidates for this class will be reviewed based on training and experience requirements as approved on 3/1997.)
EDUCATION
- Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth school grade.
AND
GENERAL EXPERIENCE
- Two years of experience in clerical work.
AND
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
- Two years of clerical experience supervising a staff of clerical employees engaged in processing and maintaining voter registration records.
Or any equivalent combination of ducation and experience determined to be acceptable by the Personnel Department.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
