The Mayor’s Commission on Aging works to sustain an accessible, inclusive, and supportive environment for older Philadelphians.
Our commitment
The Mayor’s Commission on Aging strives to ensure that Philadelphia is a great place to grow old. As part of our mission, we:
- Work with city planners to ensure that public spaces, transportation, and buildings are accessible to all.
- Promote social inclusion for seniors by encouraging intergenerational activities and community engagement.
- Collaborate with local authorities to ensure neighborhoods are safe for older adults.
- Encourage lifelong learning by providing opportunities for seniors to engage in educational and recreational activities.
Philadelphia holds an Age-Friendly Livable Certification from AARP. This certification signifies that our community has taken steps to ensure that it’s a place where people of all ages can thrive.
