Mayor's Commission on Aging

Our mission

The Mayor’s Commission on Aging works to sustain an accessible, inclusive, and supportive environment for older Philadelphians.

Our commitment

The Mayor’s Commission on Aging strives to ensure that Philadelphia is a great place to grow old. As part of our mission, we:

  • Work with city planners to ensure that public spaces, transportation, and buildings are accessible to all.
  • Promote social inclusion for seniors by encouraging intergenerational activities and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with local authorities to ensure neighborhoods are safe for older adults.
  • Encourage lifelong learning by providing opportunities for seniors to engage in educational and recreational activities.

Philadelphia holds an Age-Friendly Livable Certification from AARP. This certification signifies that our community has taken steps to ensure that it’s a place where people of all ages can thrive.
