Solid Waste and Recycling Advisory Committee
The Solid Waste and Recycling Advisory Committee (SWRAC) advises the City on:
- The preparation and implementation of its waste management and recycling plan.
- Other solid waste and recycling policy and program matters.
The mayor appoints SWRAC members based on recommendations from the Department of Sanitation commissioner and others. Members include Philadelphia residents, waste and recycling professionals, and community stakeholders from:
- Environmental groups.
- Civic organizations.
- Recycling and solid waste industry.
- City agencies.
SWRAC holds its general meetings on the third Thursday of every other month. These public meetings begin at 3 p.m. From time to time, SWRAC subcommittees or working groups meet on a different schedule.
