PHILADELPHIA – There are several permitted events taking place on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 that will cause road closures in the Center City area. Traffic delays can be expected. Motorists are advised to avoid the area by using alternate routes and allow for extra driving time in areas near the event. Full details on the closure can be found below.

Saturday, April 5

Hot Chocolate Run

The following streets will be closed from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 5:

  • Spring Garden Street from Schuylkill Expressway to Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Benjamin Franklin Parkway from N. 22nd Street to Spring Garden Street

The following streets will be closed from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 5:

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from Sweet Briar Drive to Spring Garden Street
  • Kelly Drive from Spring Garden Street to Ridge Avenue
  • Falls Road from Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive to East River Drive

NOTE: The streets listed above will be posted as “Temporary No Parking” zones. Motorists must adhere to “Temporary No Parking” signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

 

Nationwide Day of Action Rally

The following streets are expected to be closed (at the discretion of PPD, on an as-needed basis) from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5:

  • John F. Kennedy Boulevard from 15th Street to Juniper Street
  • North Broad Street from John F. Kennedy Boulevard to Arch Street

The following march route will be closed from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5:

  • Juniper Street from S. Penn Square to John F. Kennedy Boulevard
  • Market Street from Juniper Street to 5th Street

NOTE: All cross streets will reopen to vehicular traffic as the march progresses eastbound on Market Street.

 

106th First Korean Congress Celebration

The following streets will be closed on a rolling basis from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5:

  • Delancey Street between 18th Street and 17th Street
  • 17th Street between Pine Street and Chestnut Street
  • Chestnut Street between 17th Street and 5th Street

NOTE: All cross streets will reopen to vehicular traffic as the march progresses eastbound on Chestnut Street.

 

Sunday, April 6

4th Manny Flick / Hovat Regatta Series

The following street will be closed from 5 a.m. to approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 6:

  • Kelly Drive from Strawberry Mansion Bridge to Fountain Green

 

Greek Independence Day Parade

The following streets will be closed from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6:

  • Benjamin Franklin Parkway from Eakins Oval to Logan Circle (both sides)

Open Streets: West Walnut 

The following streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 6:

  • 18th Street from Locust Street to Chestnut Street
  • Walnut Street from 15th Street to 19th Street

NOTE: The streets listed above will be posted as “Temporary No Parking” zones. Motorists must adhere to “Temporary No Parking” signs. Vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours will be relocated. If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

The following SEPTA Bus Routes will be detoured on Saturday, April 5, beginning at 3 a.m. until approximately 1 p.m.:

  • 7, 32, 33, 38, 43, 48, and 49

The following SEPTA Bus Routes will be detoured on Saturday, April 5, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m.:

  • 4, 16, 17, 23, 27, 32, 33, 38, 44, 45, 47, 48, 61, 124, and 125

The following SEPTA Bus Routes will be detoured on Sunday, April 6, beginning at 6:45 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m.:

  • 9, 12, 21, and 42

The following SEPTA Bus Routes will be detoured on Sunday, April 6, beginning at 11 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m.:

  • 2, 7, 32, 33, 38, 43, 48, and 49
