In July 2024, Mayor Cherelle L. Parker announced the Verizon Franchise Renewal Agreement with the City of Philadelphia, ensuring continued access to reliable high-speed fiber broadband services for residents at city buildings. As a part of this agreement and continued dedication to digital equity, the Office of Innovation and Technology is partnering with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation to provide gigabit broadband and public Wi-Fi to 180+ City locations across Philadelphia, with a focus on ensuring every community has access to public Wi-Fi in their neighborhood.

The Office of Innovation and Technology is excited to introduce our new Philly Free Wi-Fi Finder, a tool designed to make it easier for residents to find locations across Philadelphia that provide free Wi-Fi services onsite.

How the Philly Free Wi-Fi Finder works

The Office of Innovation and Technology is committed to closing the digital divide and helping Philadelphians find locations to access the digital services they need. The Wi-Fi Finder includes all locations that provide free, public Wi-Fi at city locations. This includes:

  • All Free Library of Philadelphia locations
  • Recreation Centers
  • Older Adult Centers
  • And other parks or city buildings, such as museums.

With the Wi-Fi Finder, you can search by zip code, or by location to see which locations have public Wi-Fi near you.

Status of installation of Verizon Franchise Agreement iNet locations

Since October 2024, the Office of Innovation and Technology and Philadelphia Parks and Recreation have been surveying and installing gigabit fiber and Wi-Fi at parks and recreation locations around the City.

  • 51 sites activated since October 2024 out of 180+

You can use the Wi-Fi Finder to see which sites have been lit up with Wi-Fi as part of this initiative by using the filter for “Verizon Franchise Agreement location.”
