Integrity Week 2024 Recap

After a five-year hiatus, Integrity Week returned in November 2024!  We began the week with a clear goal: to provide opportunities for attendees to learn about our office’s work and explore ways to create a more ethical government. We were thrilled to collaborate with our partner offices, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) and the Board of Ethics (BOE), on several events.  Throughout the week, we emphasized the importance of ethical practices, ensuring accountability, and fostering public confidence. Panel discussions, meet-and-greets, and interactive sessions were designed to provide attendees with invaluable insights into our work and practical tools for making ethical decisions in complex situations.

Overall, 90% of those who completed our survey rated Integrity Week a 4.0 or 5.0 on a 5.0 rating scale.

Understanding Integrity:

94% of survey respondents said they learned something new about the Chief Integrity Office and/or a partner office during Integrity Week.

We also asked attendees for suggestions on future events, and their responses were inspiring. Here are a few ideas we’re excited about:

  • A dedicated day for each department to meet their Integrity Officer
  • Interactive activities aimed at raising awareness about ethical behavior
  • Integrity Bingo with prizes
  • Additional trainings and refreshers

Highlights of the Week:

  • Awarding the “Integrity Officer of the Year” Award: Celebrating one of our Integrity Officer’s exemplary contributions to ethical governance.
  • Hearing from Tiffany Thurman, Chief of Staff to Mayor Cherelle L. Parker; Alexander DeSantis, Inspector General; and Andrew Richman, Chair of the Compliance & Legislation Group in the Law Department: Their reflections were both insightful and motivating.
  • Meeting over 20 staff members from Licenses and Inspections: Our tabling event at the MSB building sparked meaningful conversations and connections.
  • Registering attendees for the joint Holiday Gifts training with BOE: Helping participants navigate ethical practices around holiday gift-giving.

Looking Ahead:

Integrity is the foundation of trust and transparency—trust in our government, processes, and each other. Integrity Week reminded us that pursuing an ethical government is an ongoing journey. We are better equipped to face challenges and uphold public trust by fostering understanding, encouraging dialogue, and strengthening connections.

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this year’s Integrity Week. Your engagement and feedback inspire us to keep innovating and striving for excellence. Together, let’s continue championing the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability to build a brighter, more ethical future.
