Philadelphia, PA – Streets Commissioner, Kristin Del Rossi, announced today that the Pine Road Bridge, located between Shady Lane and Bloomfield Avenue, will be REOPENED to traffic on Friday, December 20, 2024, prior to evening peak hours.
The bridge was originally closed to traffic on March 18, 2024, to commence this reconstruction project, which involved demolition and removal of the existing bridge and installation of new steel girders and construction of a new concrete bridge deck and masonry barrier. The project also consisted of rehabilitation work on the bridge substructure, utility relocation, roadway approach work, installation of a pedestrian crossing, which included ADA-compliant curb ramps, sidewalk, bump outs, and a rapid flashing beacon; roadway resurfacing and pavement markings, and other miscellaneous construction.
Work was performed by the bridge contractor, Loftus Construction, Inc. The value of the construction contract was $4.3M and was funded using a combination of State Act 13, ARLE, and City Capital funds.
The Department of Streets thanks the citizens for their patience and cooperation during the construction phase of this project.
