From presents and party supplies to wrapping paper and plastics, there’s a lot to recycle during the holidays. But don’t forget one of the most important items—your tree. The 2025 Christmas Tree Recycling Program runs Monday, January 6 to Saturday, January 18. Residents may drop off trees at the City’s six Sanitation Convenience Centers. Trees may also be dropped off on Saturday, January 11 and Saturday, January 18 from 9a-3p at 13 designated locations:
54th St. & Woodbine Ave. | 43rd St. & Powelton Ave. |
Broad St. & Christian St. | Castor Ave. & Foulkrod St. |
1400 Cottman Ave. (Jardel Rec.) | 15th St. & Bigler St. |
Corinthian Ave. & Poplar St. | 7901 Ridgeway St. (Fox Chase Rec.) |
American St. & Thompson St. | Graver Ln. & Seminole St. |
Cathedral Rd. & Ridge Ave. | Washington Ln. & Ardleigh St. |
4800 Wayne Ave. (Happy Hollow Rec. Ctr.) |
Trees brought to the sites should be free of all decorations and untied. Christmas trees present a seasonal addition to the City’s waste stream. By recycling them and returning them to the earth, we reduce our waste costs and create a valuable resource.
The program is free for residents. Vendors are responsible for making arrangements for the private disposal of their discarded trees.
Use the three “Rs” as a convenient way to practice recycling
In addition to Christmas trees, there are many more items to recycle during the holiday season. Typically, during the holiday season more waste is generated. The Streets Department offers the following suggestions to help residents increase their recycling efforts during the holiday season and year-round. Residents are reminded of the three “Rs” as a convenient way to practice recycling. All three “Rs” are equally important to the environment.
Recycle:
- Wrapping paper (except glitter or metallic paper) and gift tags.
- Glass wine and champagne bottles by rinsing and drying them out.
- Soda and beer cans, paper grocery bags, department store sale flyers and catalogs, telephone books and calendars.
