Did you know that the City of Philadelphia investigates homicides and also plans a marathon? Did you also know that the City gives out hundreds of thousands of dollars for businesses to improve their storefronts and helps fund the cost of eco-friendly gardens for homeowners?

Philadelphia is one of the largest cities in North America. The City of Philadelphia is the 5th largest employer in Pennsylvania (this number doesn’t even include School District employees). The services we provide are vast, diverse, and important for improving the quality of life for Philadelphians, even if most of City services fly under the radar.

We built the Philly Stat 360 website because the things that fly under the radar are just as important to understanding how well the City is doing as the more high-profile statistics you’ve probably heard of, like the homicide rate or how much trash is picked up on time. By keeping track of these measures, we can see how we’re delivering on Mayor Parker’s vision of a government Philadelphians can see, touch, and feel, with economic opportunity for all.

Even though Philly Stat 360’s new website is data-driven and helps us analyze performance, don’t let that scare you into thinking the website is hard to use. We’ve broken down the City’s services into 5 basic categories (Safer, Cleaner, Greener, Economic Opportunity, and Core Services) and within those, each metric is labelled and color coded to tell you if we’re meeting our goals or not. If you want to learn more about any particular measure, just click on it and you’ll get a page with more details, like why and how we measure this, and more information about it.

This website is just one part of what our team, the Mayor’s Office of Philly Stat 360, is doing. We bring data-driven, collaborative decision making and performance analysis to all the City’s departments and services at large. While that may sound fancy, think of our office as doing to the City was analytics did to baseball.

You should also know that we’re a new office – founded in just the Spring of 2024. As we expand our work, we’ll be adding to this website. So, if there’s something you can’t find on it right now, check back in a few weeks, or let us know
