The City of Philadelphia is looking for youth-serving non-profit and for-profit organizations that can provide fun programs for afterschool, and winter and spring break camps.

On Wednesday, December 11, the City launched an open and competitive Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to find new providers for Outside-School-Time (OST) programming sites across the city, including Extended Day/Extended Year pilot schools.

Particularly sought after are providers who can deliver specialized enrichment activities in arts and culture, STEAM/STEM, sports and recreation, or other enrichment programs for students in grades K-8.

The Extended Day/Extended Year (EDEY) pilot program supports working families and helps to meet the need for safe and enriching environments for school-aged children, helping to close the enrichment gap, and creating new economic opportunities for Philadelphians.

EDEY pilot schools offer before and afterschool care, including quality enrichment programs, with schools opening for students at 7:30 a.m. and closing at 6:00 p.m. All programs are free and entirely voluntary, though registration is required.

The Extended Day/Extended Year initiative is a key priority of the Mayor Cherelle Parker and is an ongoing collaboration between the Mayor’s Office of Education, the Office of Children and Families, the School District of Philadelphia, and participating charter schools, funded jointly by the City and the District.
