This innovative program offers emergency backup care services for dependent children and adult loved ones, helping City employees manage life’s unpredictable challenges with ease.

As part of the City’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive and flexible work environment, Wellthy’s Backup Care will provide eligible employees* with peace of mind, knowing that when regular care arrangements fall through, help is just a click away. Whether it’s an unexpected school closure, a sick babysitter, or a caregiver issue, employees can access vetted, reliable care options at a moment’s notice.
How the Program Works
Eligible City employees will have access to up to 8 backup care days per year for each dependent child or adult loved one. The program offers a variety of care options to suit different needs, including:
- In-Center Care: Vetted childcare centers for little ones.
- Community-Based Programs: Trusted programs available in local neighborhoods.
- In-Home Care: Professional caregivers who come directly to the employee’s home.
- Personal Network Option: Employees can even use a trusted family member, neighbor, or friend as a caregiver and receive partial reimbursement.
Affordable and Accessible Care
With a low $15 copay per day, no matter the type of care used, the program is designed to be affordable. Wellthy’s digital platform and Backup Care Specialists make it easy for employees to find, book, and manage care on short notice. Whether it’s an emergency or a planned need—such as during school holidays or a caregiver’s vacation—Wellthy has employees covered.
