About us

The PHL Service Design Studio (SDS) is part of the City of Philadelphia’s Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Our mission is to make government services more accessible, equitable, and trauma-responsive for Philadelphians—especially those who’ve historically been marginalized by government actions. We collaborate closely with community members and City staff across levels and departments to design, test, and implement service improvements that meet the diverse needs of Philadelphians.

Our work and how we work is guided by core values that include centering lived experiences, fostering collaboration and accountability, and driving transformation towards more lasting change.

  • Salaries are included in the job descriptions for each position.
  • Successful candidates must relocate to Philadelphia within six months of being hired.
  • City of Philadelphia employees work in the office five days a week. However, flexibilities exist with your schedule.
