Great news! The City of Philadelphia just launched new courses at the Community College of Philadelphia to fill specific entry level jobs at the City. The City College for Municipal Employment (CCME) removes barriers for Philadelphians to access workforce training and education. The program is opening doors for residents interested in serving in important areas of City government with good paying jobs, healthcare, retirement and other benefits.
Classes started on October 1 and feature a number of career training paths including:
- Skilled Trades;
- Healthcare;
- Technology;
- Business & Administration;
- Public Safety;
- and STEM.
Programming will be available to individuals interested in a City career, but may lack the education, training, or certifications necessary. CCME will also work with City Departments to upskill current City employees in generalist roles looking for promotional opportunities within the City. Individuals who are enrolled in CCME will receive wrap around services and supports to ensure their success in their program and in the opportunity to be hired by the City.
CCME is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to have a career, not just a job. The jobs CCME is training to fill are well-paying and provide opportunities for continued growth. We want to make it as easy as possible for Philadelphians to create a career by eliminating tuition and other barriers to entry to both the training and employment. We’re also providing wrap around services and supports so students can manage all of life’s challenges while remaining in the program.
Our partners include the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) and the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Works, and others. This unique initiative is part of the City’s commitment to supporting Philadelphians with economic stability and education.
