PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner,  Kristin Del Rossi announced today that Lycoming Street, between Germantown Avenue and Broad Street, will be closed temporarily on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. The following temporary full-closure is scheduled to be in effect from approximately 8:00 PM on Tuesday to 2:00 AM on Wednesday:

  • Eastbound through-traffic will be blocked at Germantown Ave.  Local traffic will be able to proceed up to the bridge closure.
  • Westbound traffic will be detoured at Broad Street.
  • No detour will be posted for this short term closure. Hunting Park Avenue – one block north – is suggested as an alternate route for through traffic.
  • Pedestrian and bicycle traffic may also be impacted by this closure.

The temporary closure will allow City employees to safely complete repairs along the Lycoming Street Bridge.  This work has been scheduled for overnight hours in order to expedite repairs and minimize disruption to motorists, and provide the safest work environment for employees.

All work will be completed and traffic will be restored by 2:00 AM.  For the duration of the work, Streets Department crews will make every effort to minimize the inconvenience to affected drivers, residents, and businesses.  The Streets Department thanks citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
