PHILADELPHIA – Department of Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi announced today the indefinite closure of the Noble Street Bridge over 13th Street, located between Broad Street and 12th Street, effective Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The closure is necessary due to deficient portions of the steel support beams which cannot safely carry the legal loads. To ensure the safety of the traveling public, the bridge will be closed to all traffic.
Warning signage will be installed along Broad Street and Noble Street to alert the traveling public. No detour will be posted for this closure. The Noble Street roadway will be barricaded at both ends of the bridge. Two-way local traffic will be permitted on Noble Street approaching the bridge from Broad Street and from 12th Street.
The Rail Park will remain open, and the public will continue to have access to the trail and park system during the bridge closure. Pedestrian and bicyclist through traffic on Noble Street will cross over 13th Street in the Rail Park instead of the roadway portion of the bridge.
The Streets Department thanks the citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this disruption.
