Monday, July 22: Statement on President Joe Biden

With the sudden news of President Joe Biden deciding not to run for re-election, Mayor Parker took to social media and put out a statement highlighting her working relationship with him over the years and applauding his decision to put the country first ahead of personal interests. The Mayor thanked President Biden for all his honorable years of public service and for being such an invaluable partner to the City of Philadelphia.

 

Thursday, July 25: Hospital Assessment and Friends Hospital Bill Signing

Thursday morning, Mayor Parker was on sight at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children to sign two bills: the Hospital Assessment Bill and the Friends Hospital Bill. 

The Hospital Assessment bill allows the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth to generate Medicaid matching funds for a program that will bring federal money to Philadelphia, and expand the program to include additional hospitals, including children and cancer hospitals.

The Friends Hospital bill will pave the way for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to build a brand new City Health Center on the Friends Hospital Campus, which will offer primary care for both adults and children in this community in Northeast Philadelphia.

 

Thursday, July 25: WHYY Studio 2 Interview

Thursday afternoon, Mayor Parker joined WHYY’s Studio 2 podcast hosted by Avi Wolfman-Arent and Cherri Gregg to discuss a variety of topics regarding the city as well as what is on her to-do list, her return-to-office policy, and reflected on her first 7 months in office as Mayor. She also answered calls from Philadelphia residents live on air, giving her insight and perspective to their questions.

 

Friday, July 26: PHL Airport & Convention Center Welcome Messages

When you arrive at PHL International Airport or the Philadelphia Convention Center in the near future, keep your eyes and ears open for a message from Mayor Parker! Friday afternoon, Mayor Parker took some time in the studio to record special welcome messages for the two institutions. Whether you are coming home, visiting or just passing through, Mayor Parker welcomes you with open arms to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.
