PHILADELPHIA – Streets Commissioner Kristin Del Rossi announced today that the 3000 block of Clifford Street will be closed to through-traffic for construction activities to re-install historic brick on Montgomery Avenue. Clifford Street will remain open to local traffic only via 31st Street.

This closure is expected to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, and will be in effect until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2.

This operation involves the re-installation of historic brick roadway on Montgomery Avenue from the bridge approach to 31st Street. The historic brick in this area was removed and cleaned as part of the Montgomery Avenue Bridge Reconstruction Project, that has been in construction phase since February 2022.

This work will be performed by the contractor, Buckley & Company, of Philadelphia. The value of the overall bridge reconstruction project is $17.2 million and is being funded using Federal (80 percent) and State (15 percent) grants, along with City Capital Funds (5 percent).

The Streets Departments thanks residents and motorists in advance for their patience and cooperation during this construction operation.
