The Citizens Police Oversight Commission on the Recent Shooting of a Philadelphia Police Officer

The Citizens Police Oversight Commission is deeply saddened by the recent shooting of a Philadelphia police officer in Kensington on Saturday, June 22, 2024, on the 3500 block of F Street. Our thoughts are with the officer and his family during this incredibly difficult time. The safety and well-being of all members of our community, including those who serve to protect us, is of paramount importance.

Our Investigations Unit was present at the scene of the shooting Saturday evening. In keeping with our mission of accountability and trust-building, we will be conducting a thorough and independent review of the evidence and circumstances surrounding this incident.

We ask for the public’s patience and cooperation as we carry out our review. During reviews of incidents, there may be updates as new information is learned or witnesses come forward. The Commission remains committed to providing timely updates to the community.
