The City and its partners serve meals to children and youth each summer while students are out of school for summer vacation.

When?

Youth up to age 18 can receive free meals from more than 500 meal sites across the city. These sites are part of the City’s summer meals program.

Who?

Summer meal sites provide free meals and snacks to children and teens aged 18 and under.

The meals are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No paperwork or ID is required.

Where?

This year, over 500 summer meal sites will be located in public spaces in every city neighborhood. PlayStreets, hosted by Philadelphia Parks & Rec (PPR), is a popular location for summer meals. Meals are also provided at summer camps, PlayStreets, rec centers, libraries, and school sites.

Summer Meals are made possible through federally funded, state-administered programs that fund and deliver free meals to sites. The meals must be eaten at the summer meal site.

What happens if a site has run out of meals?

Summer Meals are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site orders meals based on estimated participation. If you go to a meal site and they have run out of meals, let them know if you want to start picking up meals from that site. They should be able to increase their meal delivery. It will take a few days for them to start getting more meals.
