The 2024 Commercial Trash Fee bills are due in less than two weeks. We recently mailed trash collection bills to nearly 25,000 Philadelphia property owners who use the City’s trash and recycling services. Bills began arriving in mailboxes on May 1. You may have received one, and it must be paid by June 30.

Even if your bill is delayed or lost, you can still search and pay your balance on the Philadelphia Tax Center without creating a username or password. Use the “Property” panel on the site’s homepage to find your property and pay any balances.

Installment payments?

The fee is $500 and covers weekly trash pick-up by the City for the entire year. If you split your bill into two installments and paid the first $250 installment in December 2023, you must pay the second $250 installment by June 30. Your account will incur extra charges if you fail to pay on time and may be referred to collections if you ignore your bill.

Online payment is easy

  • Go to the Philadelphia Tax Center.
  • Select “Make a payment” from the “Payments” panel on the Tax Center’s homepage.
  • Select “Yes” under “Payment options” to pay your recent bill.
  • Otherwise, choose “No” on this same screen and select “Commercial Trash Fees.” Follow the on-screen instructions to submit your payment.

You don’t need a username and password to pay bills on the Philadelphia Tax Center. But, if you own or manage multiple properties, you may want to create a username and password. This will allow you to manage all your property accounts from one screen. For example, you’ll see all balances on your properties, receive alerts, and see payment status from a single dashboard. You can also switch accounts without signing in and out.

Exemptions?

You don’t have to pay the $500 fee if you use a private trash collection service or meet any exemption criteria. But you must fill out and return this Commercial Trash Fee Exemption form. You can submit an exemption and upload support documentation through the Philadelphia Tax Center. A copy of your current trash service agreement from a licensed hauler must also be included. You must submit an exemption form every year to avoid paying this fee.
