Looking for a summer job? Working as pool maintenance attendant (PMA) is fun and rewarding! It’s a great way to spend your summer poolside while earning a little extra cash. PMAs help keep City pools healthy, clean, and in sparkling blue condition all summer long.   

Requirements:  

  • Be a resident of Philadelphia. 
  • Have good customer service skills. 
  • React calmly and effectively in emergency situations. 
  • Able to stand for long periods of time in 90+ degree temperatures. 
  • Be 18 years old or over.  

PMAs are responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized pool area. They assist visitors and ensure that all pool regulations are followed. 

Pool Maintenance Attendants must: 

  1. Ensure swimmers wear proper pool attire.
  2. Count participants in pool to keep everyone safe.
  3. Record attendance on a hourly basis.
  4. Skim the swimming pool.
  5. Brush the pool interior to remove dirt on walls.
  6. Vacuum the swimming pool.
  7. Check the pool filter.
  8. Test the water chemistry (check the levels of chlorine, pH, and alkalinity in the water.)
  9. Sweep and clean area around the pool. 

Pool Maintenance Attendants are paid $15 a hour. Candidates must be able to work 40 hours a week. Schedules may change depending on the needs of the facility. Employment dates are early-June to mid-August.
