May 17, 2024 update

The American Red Cross will open an intake center to continue providing resources for residents displaced by the 49th and Spruce St. apartment fire that occurred on May 5th.

The intake center will be open on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2221 Chestnut St. in Philadelphia.

All residents from the impacted building who have not yet registered with the Red Cross recovery team are encouraged to stop by the intake center.  Please bring your identification. Call 1-800-733-2767 with any questions.

May 15, 2024 update

If you’re experiencing emotional distress, a mental health crisis, or want someone to talk to, the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services has resources on their website or you can dial 988.


The City of Philadelphia and partners will open a resource center for those impacted by the May 5 fire at 49th and Spruce Streets in West Philadelphia.

The center will operate Wednesday, May 15 from noon until 8 p.m.

Residents can find assistance with identification and document replacement, housing guidance, property tax rebates, help with replacing certain belongings, and more.

The agencies at the MARC (Multi-Agency Resource Center) include:
