Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s capital projects team had a busy year. They worked to complete renovations at ten sites across the city in 2023. Check out the list below.

East Passyunk Community Center
- New splashpad that provides cooling water in the heat
- Musical play area for kid’s engagement
- New benches set up
Waterloo Playground
- Newly renovated bathrooms
- Renovated fenced area for secure outdoor storage
- Updated security cameras
- New exterior lighting to help navigate at night
- Playground pool now repainted
Anna C. Verna Playground in FDR Park
- New megaswing attraction- largest swing set in North America
- Custom-designed “birdhouse” structures with slides and climbing areas
- An adventure path that allows for peaceful traversing
- State-of-the-art wishbone logs kids can climb up and around
Butler and Percy Play lot
- Newly installed play equipment along with site furniture
- Updated fence fabric
- Inclusively designed ADA accessible swing set
- Stormwater infrastructure implemented for proper drainage
- New safety surfacing
Eastwick Park/Suffolk Park
- Fresh markings and benches
- A newly installed asphalt court
- Custom cloud accents and “plane games” drawn on equipment and safety surface
- Added signage to multiple locations in the park
Jacobs Playground
- Two new play areas for youth to enjoy
- Newly added concrete sidewalks along with a picnic area
- Fresh safety surface
- Beautiful trees scattered around the playground
Fernhill Park
- New ADA walkways to the existing pavilion, a fresh look to the basketball court
- Clean polycarbonate backboard for basketball court
- Newly created picnic area for family time fun
- Installed security cameras
- A custom bulletin board for all park visitors to see upon entrance
Thomas Mitchell Playground
- A brand-new Splash pad for summer fun
- State-of-the-art play equipment and site furniture
- Fully redone landscaping
Picariello Playground
- A fresh safety surface for kids to run on
- Mature shade structures to cool of from heat
- A full-depth asphalt replacement
Williams Moore Reed Memorial Park
- New, custom-made safety surface with 76er’s color scheme
- Fresh polycarbonate backboard
- Benches and fences were installed
