Receiving the COVID-19 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself against illness, hospitalization, and even death from the virus. This updated vaccine is expected to provide better protection against variants that are currently making people sick.

Most Philadelphians can use their health insurance to get the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge with no copay, provided the administering clinic is in the insurer’s network. For people who don’t have health insurance, or who have insurance that won’t cover the vaccine, there are other options.

The federal government and the Health Department are working with pharmacies, clinics, and health centers to ensure that people who do not have insurance coverage for vaccines are able to receive COVID-19 vaccine at no cost, through either Vaccine For Children (VFC) or the Bridge Access Program.
