Final weekend of recreational closure will be November 25-26; Will reconvene next spring
PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia announced today that the last recreational weekend closure on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive for the season will be Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26.
Since April 1, MLK Drive has been closed to vehicular traffic on weekends beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturdays and lasting through 7 a.m. on Mondays. The season will come to a close after the final weekend of November.
The remainder of the recreational closure season includes:
- Saturday, November 18 – Sunday, November 19
- Saturday, November 25 – Sunday, November 26
The initiative will resume again in Spring 2024 as the City continues to work with agencies and partners on providing safe recreation space for residents. The newly upgraded side path will remain available to walkers, joggers, and cyclists as an alternative during the interim.
