The Roosevelt Boulevard and Adams Avenue/Summerdale Avenue Intersection Safety Improvement Project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2023. As part of this project, the traveling public can expect to encounter single lane closures on Roosevelt Boulevard throughout the stages of the project.
Work at this intersection will include new traffic signals and signage, curb bump outs and island modifications, upgraded ADA ramps, and new inlets. This work is being performed to improve motorist and pedestrian safety at this intersection as part of the City’s Vision Zero Goals.
In order to perform the work, the Streets Department’s contractor will be required to periodically close lanes on Roosevelt Boulevard. Work at the intersection is anticipated to start along the northbound outer lanes and is sequenced to move to northbound inner lanes, southbound inner lanes, and finally southbound outer lanes. During each of the construction phases, a single lane closure will be in place 24/7 to accommodate the work. Each construction phase (individual lane closure) is anticipated to last approximately three weeks before moving to the next phase. Single lane closures will be in place only one direction (NB or SB) at a time. Variable message boards will be installed in advance of the closure along with warning signage and arrow boards to alert the traveling public.
While the Streets Department will make every effort to minimize disruption to traffic, residents are urged to plan ahead and use alternative routes or allow for increased travel times when traveling in these areas. The Streets Department thanks residents in advance for their patience and cooperation as we work to improve city streets.
