There’s something for everyone this summer at Philadelphia’s parks. The options are as bountiful as the good times you’ll have!

Our staff and partners have geared up to present an array of summer events. Some highlights:

  • Enjoy an outdoor movie, concert, or campfire.
  • Practice archery or learn how to fish.
  • Soak in the sunset on a kayak cruise.
  • Join a group walk, meditation, or yoga class.
  • Learn to salsa or try hip hop and soul line dancing.
  • Practice meditation outdoors.

Line Dancing on the River – Hip Hop and Soul

August 1, 2022

Join Riverfront North Partnership for Hip Hop and Soul Line Dancing by the River with instructor Mr. Marty. The classes are free and open to all ages and levels. Children will need to have an adult with them to participate. The fun takes place on the large grass pier at Pennypack on the Delaware. Please wear suitable sneakers. Wednesday Meditations

Explore various modalities of meditation in this 6-week program. Bring something to sit on such as a pillow, bolster, or mat. Consider sunscreen, insect repellent, and water bottle. Family Fun By The River

Riverfront North Partnership brings out fun for the whole family every Thursday in the field near the playground at Pleasant Hill Park. Enjoy kid’s field games (corn hole, horseshoes, hula hoops, balls, giant jenga, giant connect 4 etc.), arts and crafts, fun nature activities, and more. No sign up necessary. Free Outdoor Movie Night

Salsa & Bachata Dance Party in LOVE Park

Creatures of the Night Hike & Campfire

FDR Park Plan Walk and Talk

Exciting changes are coming to FDR Park over the next several years. Join us for an approximately 2 hour tour (with many stops) to learn more about how the FDR Park Plan’s two main zones–the Ecological Core and Urban Edge–will balance nature, water, and human activity into one unified, climate resilient system. Kidchella 2022 August Concert

Smith’s Kidchella Music Festival is BACK! Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy this unique live music experience. Lucy Kalantari and 123 Andres will perform. Enjoy cake and sing Happy Birthday as Smith turns 123 years old! In addition to music, the event will feature art stations, food trucks, giveaways, pre-show performances, and fun on the 6 1/2 acre Playground. Whitman on Walls

The Whitman on Walls! (WoW!) vision is to project the seven films on a public wall. After each film a local poet stands up at a microphone and “speaks back” to Whitman in their own words. This event is similar to a drive-in movie meets a poetry slam. Poets take up Whitman’s challenge or quarrel with him, thus weaving together film and live recitation/performance. The films portray over 50 actors from around the world who are paired with a live performance of a number of local artists, including a class from a local Philadelphia public elementary school. In partnership with Venice Island PAC, Compagnia de’ Colombari & Mad Poets Society. Register for this event.

Sunset Kayak Cruise on the FDR Lakes

Come see for yourself by joining the Fairmount Park Conservancy‘s evening guided kayak tour of the three connected bodies of water: Pattison Lagoon, Edgewood Lake, and Hollander Creek.
